Dr. Jean-Luc Biarrotte is graduated from the “Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Physique de Grenoble” in 1995. After a PhD at CEA Saclay / University Paris-Sud, he has join the Orsay Institute of Nuclear Physics (IPNO) in 2000 as a particle accelerator physicist. In 2009, he was awarded the J-Louis Laclare Prize from SFP (Société Française de Physique). His main expertise is the design of high-power superconducting linear accelerators for hadron-beam-based nuclear physics. He has been for several years the CNRS coordinator for the ADS accelerators activities, coordinating in particular the MAX EURATOM FP7 project from 2011 to 2014 in support to MYRRHA.
He is presently Scientific Director of the French National Institute for Nuclear and Particle Physics (CNRS/IN2P3) since April 2016, in charge of Accelerators and Technologies.
