Dr. Maurizio Vretenar

Dr. Maurizio Vretenar - After graduating from the University of Trieste (Italy), has worked at CERN since 1987 in the design and construction of different proton linear accelerators and of the related Radio Frequency systems, gaining a particular experience in Radio Frequency Quadrupoles. Since 2007, he was project leader for the construction of Linac4, the new 160 MeV linac injector for the LHC upgrade, which was successfully inaugurated in 2017.

 

From 2013 to 2017 he was the coordinator of the EU-supported EuCARD2 Integrating Activity Project for accelerator R&D, and in 2017 he took over the coordination of the successor project ARIES (Accelerator Research and Innovation for European Science and Society), which will last until 2021.
